The Juniper P-4E3 is a four-port E3 PIC for Juniper M-series routers. Each E3 port runs at 34.368 Mbps, the European third-level PDH rate, which suits leased-line handoffs from carriers. The four ports are independent E3 circuits, so one PIC can terminate four carrier handoffs. It installs in a Flexible PIC Concentrator (FPC) slot, where the PIC handles framing and signalling for its media type before traffic passes to the Packet Forwarding Engine.
