The Juniper SCB-E-M40 is an Enhanced System Control Board with Internet Processor II for the Juniper M40. It is the later control board fitted to the M40 (Juniper’s first router, 1998), replacing the original Internet Processor I board and improving ACL handling; the routing engine, PICs, power supply and FPCs on the M40 are all separately field-replaceable. It sits in the control-plane path between the Routing Engine and the rest of the chassis. It is a field-replaceable unit, supplied as a spare or an upgrade for an existing deployment.
