The Nortel QPC412C is an InterGroup Switch (IGS) card from the legacy QPC-prefixed hardware family used on the original SL-1 and early Meridian 1 switching platforms. It links network groups within a multi-group SL-1 or Meridian 1 system, a function later consolidated onto a single NT5D30 Dual InterGroup Switch (DIGS) card that replaced two QPC412 IGS cards with one, as documented in Nortel’s own Meridian 1 Option 81/81C replacement literature. SL-1 and early Meridian 1 systems of this generation remain in service on a small number of legacy installations, and genuine IGS spares are a routine requirement for maintaining multi-group switching capacity on systems that have not yet migrated to the later DIGS card.
