The mixed copper/fibre port set suited a wiring closet serving both standard desktop drops and longer or interference-prone fibre runs from the same switch. AT-8000 series units of this generation remain in service across established deployments, and genuine spares such as this one are a routine requirement for maintaining capacity or restoring a unit after a fault.
