The Cisco WIC-2T is a 2-port serial WAN Interface Card fitted into the WIC slot of Cisco’s 1600, 1700, 2600, 3600 and 3700 series modular routers, providing two synchronous/asynchronous serial ports for connecting to leased lines, Frame Relay, X.25 or other serial WAN services via an external CSU/DSU. Each port supports standard EIA/TIA-232, V.35, X.21 and other serial signalling through Cisco’s smart-serial or DB-60 cabling, letting a single WIC slot carry two independent WAN circuits rather than one. It is one of the most widely deployed WICs of the period, fitted across small-branch and head-office routers alike. These routers remain in service across many established WAN edge deployments, and a genuine spare such as this restores a failed serial WAN connection.
