The Finisar FTLX8511D3-HP is a 10GBASE-SR XFP transceiver with an 850 nm source, rated for 300 metres over OM3 multimode fibre. The HP coding identifies a build supplied for Hewlett Packard equipment, whose switches read the vendor identifier out of the module at insertion; the optics are the standard short reach 10 Gigabit part.

XFP was the 10 Gigabit pluggable form factor before SFP+ and is what line cards of that generation accept, so a replacement has to match the cage as well as the wavelength and reach. Short reach multimode modules of this class serve in-building and in-rack links rather than inter-site ones. Finisar merged with II-VI in 2019 and the transceiver business now trades as Coherent.
