The HP AM872A is a StorageWorks 8/80 Power Pack+ SAN Switch, a high-density Fibre Channel switch based on the Brocade 5300 platform. It ships with 48 active 8 Gbps ports and can be licensed up to a maximum of 80 active ports, making it suited to large enterprise SAN fabrics.

The switch offers non-blocking architecture with up to 80 ports concurrently active at 8 Gbps full duplex, for an aggregate bandwidth of 1280 Gbps. The Power Pack+ software bundle adds advanced management, monitoring and performance tuning tools, along with ISL trunking, zoning, QoS and NPIV support for enhanced security and traffic control.
