The HP J8762A is a ProCurve Switch 2600-8-PWR, a full standalone managed Ethernet switch with 8 ports of 10/100Base-TX connectivity, all supporting Power over Ethernet under IEEE 802.3af. The switch provides a PoE power budget suited to powering devices such as VoIP phones and wireless access points directly over the network cable.

A dual-personality Gigabit uplink port, switchable between RJ-45 copper and a mini-GBIC fibre slot, allows the switch to connect back into a Gigabit-speed network core using either copper or fibre media depending on the site.
