The IBM 21P8186 is a PCI Quad Modem IOA, IBM feature code 2805, for the AS/400 and iSeries platform. It is a four-line WAN adapter with four RJ-11 ports, supporting V.92 56K async SLIP/PPP dial connections and V.34 fax, with up to four of these IOAs attachable to a single I/O processor on the Models 820, 830 and 840.

This class of card gave older AS/400 and iSeries systems dial-up WAN and fax connectivity before broadband and IP-based remote access became standard, and it remains a straightforward like-for-like replacement for systems still running that configuration.
