The IBM 41T8470 is a W520 GBL FRU, part of the Lenovo ThinkPad W520-based Support Element family that IBM uses on its System z mainframes and several large Power frames. Its sibling part, 41T8469, is the TKP W520-B GBL SE. IBM has used the same hardware pattern on the T510, T520 and T530 chassis generations.

A Support Element is the dedicated service processor and management console fitted to each frame. IBM builds it on a ruggedised commercial laptop rather than a bespoke enclosure, so genuine spares for the console side of a frame are ordinary laptop-class assemblies carrying an IBM FRU label.
