The IBM 41T8928 is an OSA card, listed with the internal codename Glacier. The Open Systems Adapter is the System z mainframe’s network attachment: it puts Ethernet ports into an I/O drawer and lets z/OS, z/VM and Linux on the mainframe use them directly. The OSA Express family runs through several generations with different port types and speeds, and the machine has to support the generation fitted.
