The IBM 74Y3288 is a SAS SFF-1 controller for split backplane, feature code 5618, CCIN 2BE0, also known under FRU 74Y3342. It enables an optional SAS controller to split six drive bays into a pair of three-bay groups with RAID-10 capability on IBM’s POWER7 server range.

The controller is matched to the split-bay feature specifically and is not orderable alongside the standard #5630 backplane. POWER7-era hardware remains in active enterprise service, and a spare controller is a routine requirement for restoring split-backplane RAID functionality after a fault.
