The IBM 41T8689 is a GX++ 12X Channel Dual Data Rate (DDR) adapter, from the GX++ 12X DDR adapter family that includes the 1808/2BC3 and 74Y0532 variants. GX++ adapters fit a Power Systems host’s GX bus slot and provide the high-speed 12X Channel connection used to attach RIO-2/HSL-2 or 12X-loop I/O expansion drawers, letting a system address additional PCIe slots, disk bays and communications adapters beyond its own internal capacity, at higher Dual Data Rate throughput than the older Single Data Rate GX adapters.
