The IBM 44E5083 is a genuine IBM BladeCenter H blower module. BladeCenter H chassis use a pair of high-airflow blower modules to cool the blade servers, switch modules and power supplies housed within the chassis, and a failed or degraded blower is one of the more common wear-item faults on a BladeCenter H that has been in continuous service for several years. The blowers are hot-swappable, allowing a faulted unit to be replaced without powering down the chassis or its blade population, provided the remaining blower can sustain adequate airflow during the swap. BladeCenter H chassis remain in production use at many sites still running blade-based virtualisation or application clusters from that generation, and genuine replacement blowers are a routine maintenance item to keep chassis cooling within specification.
