IBM 44X1948 server / storage / networking hardware Server Hardware / Parts

The IBM 44X1948 is a genuine IBM 8Gb Fibre Channel expansion card (CIOv form factor) for BladeCenter, built on QLogic’s Fibre Channel HBA silicon, as stated directly in IBM’s own part description. The compact I/O expansion (CIOv) form factor is BladeCenter’s smaller mezzanine card standard, fitting blade servers with limited expansion space while still providing a full 8Gb FC port for SAN connectivity. QLogic supplied Fibre Channel adapter chipsets across much of the server industry during this generation, and IBM’s own-branded BladeCenter version of the card carries full IBM qualification and driver support for its blade range rather than being a generic third-party card. These expansion cards remain a routine spare for BladeCenter estates still running 8Gb FC SAN connectivity, whether replacing a faulted card or adding SAN access to a blade that previously had none. Buyers should confirm their blade model’s CIOv expansion-slot compatibility before ordering. Tech-Star is UK-based and ships worldwide.
