The IBM 97P5678 is a CPU power regulator (voltage regulator module), model S-L4, rated at 450W and carrying CCIN 51B8, supplied under feature code 7875 for the 9117-570 and 9117-561 pSeries (Power5 570/561) systems. It converts the system’s DC supply into the tightly regulated voltage a processor module needs, and is fitted per processor book, so a failed regulator affects only the CPU it feeds rather than the whole system. The same part is also recorded under alternate numbers 39J0473, 39J2557 and 42R7629, all describing the same physical module reissued over its service life. Because these regulators are matched to a specific processor generation and drawer configuration, confirm the exact machine type and model before ordering.
