The IBM 46K3379 is a FICON Express8S LX 2-port channel adapter, 8Gb/s rated, for IBM’s z114, z196, zBC12 and zEC12 mainframes, sharing its CCIN family (58AC/58AD) with the FSP card variant 74Y1069 and the closely related 46K3776 module. It provides long-wavelength (LX) FICON channel connectivity at up to 10km without repeaters, distinct from the shorter-reach SX variants used for local storage attachment. Adapters of this type are fitted or replaced to maintain or expand a mainframe’s long-distance FICON channel connectivity to remote DASD and tape subsystems. Tech-Star ships worldwide from UK stock.
