The IBM 74Y2726 is a BladeCenter PS702 Express expansion planar, the second system board fitted to the double-wide PS702 blade (machine type 8406-71Y) alongside a base PS701-style board. The PS702 pairs two 8-core 64-bit POWER7 processors running at 3.0GHz, for sixteen cores per blade with AltiVec SIMD and hardware decimal floating-point acceleration, and the expansion planar carries the second processor socket, its associated DIMM slots and the interconnect logic that joins it to the base board across the BladeCenter S, H or HT chassis midplane. PS702 blades of this generation are still found in production BladeCenter environments running AIX, IBM i or Linux, where a working expansion planar is essential to running the blade in its full doublewide, sixteen-core configuration rather than a reduced single-wide mode.
