IBM 90Y4602: QLogic 20-port 8Gb SAN switch module for IBM BladeCenter.

The IBM 90Y4602 is a QLogic 20-port 8Gb SAN switch module for the IBM BladeCenter chassis, also sold as an 8Gb intelligent pass-through module under the cross-reference 44X1905. Fitted into a BladeCenter’s I/O bay, it provides Fibre Channel switching (or, in pass-through mode, direct external connectivity) between the chassis’s blade servers and the wider SAN fabric, at up to 8Gb/s per port across its 20 internal and external ports.

BladeCenter deployments built around Fibre Channel storage remain in service in some data centres, and a genuine spare switch module is the standard way to restore full SAN connectivity after a module failure or to add a second fabric path for redundancy.
