IBM 87H3715: ARTIC960Hx 4-port multiprotocol PCI base adapter for RS/6000 and pSeries.

The IBM 87H3715 is an ARTIC960Hx 4-port multiprotocol PCI base adapter for RS/6000 and pSeries systems, sold as the base card of a two-part option that also includes a 4-port selectable PCI mezzanine card and 8MB of DRAM. The ARTIC960Hx offloads input/output processing from the host system’s own microprocessor, running its own onboard controller to handle high-function communications tasks such as multiprotocol WAN links, so the main system CPU is freed up for application work rather than interrupt handling.

Systems built around this generation of RS/6000/pSeries communications hardware remain in service in some legacy telecom and data networks, and a genuine adapter is a routine requirement for maintaining an existing configuration or restoring a failed card. Confirm your exact ARTIC960Hx configuration (which mezzanine and memory options are fitted) before ordering.
