The Linksys SLM248P is a 48-port 10/100 smart switch from the Linksys Business Series, with two Gigabit combo uplinks and Power over Ethernet. Each combo uplink takes either a copper RJ-45 connection or a mini-GBIC (SFP) module, so the switch can reach the core over copper or fibre.

Twenty-four of the Fast Ethernet ports (ports 1 to 12 and 25 to 36) deliver IEEE 802.3af PoE from a 180W internal supply. That is enough for 7.5W on all 24 ports or 15.4W on 11 of them, which suits IP phones, cameras and wireless access points.

Management is through a built-in web interface. The switch supports 802.1Q VLANs (128 active), 802.1X port authentication, MAC-based filtering, LACP link aggregation, IGMP snooping, port mirroring and four hardware QoS queues. Switching capacity is 13.6 Gbps, non-blocking.

Cisco later replaced this model with the SF200-48P. Tech-Star supplies the SLM248P new and refurbished for sites keeping an existing Linksys Business Series network running.
