Nortel DM1401066 (OPTera Metro / PDH-SDH / Passport-MSS / networking portfolio) Network Security Appliance

The Nortel DM1401066 is an Extranet Switch 600, an early dedicated VPN/security appliance from Nortel’s Extranet Switch range, the product line that preceded and was later folded into the Contivity brand, including 128-bit DOC (Data-Origin Confidentiality) encryption for site-to-site and remote-access IPsec VPN traffic. It terminates encrypted tunnels back to a compatible peer gateway, handling authentication and encryption as a dedicated function rather than sharing that load with a general-purpose router. Nortel’s Extranet Switch and successor Contivity ranges were widely deployed for enterprise VPN connectivity, and a portion of that older installed base remains active today. Confirm software licence level and interoperability with the peer gateway’s encryption settings before ordering, since this is an earlier-generation platform than the later Contivity models. Tech-Star (UK-based, shipped worldwide) supplies Nortel hardware for network maintenance, capacity restoration and expansion. Get in touch for current stock and pricing.
