Nortel DM1401100: Contivity 1700 VPN switch, dual 10/100, 128-bit encryption, 500 tunnels.

The Nortel DM1401100 is a Contivity 1700 switch, a dedicated VPN/security appliance from Nortel’s Contivity range with dual 10/100 Ethernet interfaces and 128-bit encryption, sized for branch-office or small-site remote-access deployments supporting up to 500 concurrent VPN tunnels. It terminates IPsec VPN connections back to a head-office Contivity or compatible gateway, handling tunnel encryption and authentication as a dedicated appliance rather than sharing that load with a general-purpose router. Nortel’s Contivity range was widely deployed for enterprise remote-access and site-to-site VPN through the 2000s, and a portion of that installed base remains active today. Confirm software licence level and required tunnel capacity against the specific deployment before ordering.
