The Nortel DS1304009 is a 2-Slot MDA Baseboard for the Passport 8672 ATM Media (ATMM) Switch, sharing its DS13-prefixed part numbering with the Passport 8600 8608GBIC and 8648TX modules already catalogued from the same Passport switch family. The MDA baseboard is the carrier card that accepts smaller Media Dependent Adapter (MDA) modules, giving the 8672 chassis a way to fit two MDA-format interface modules rather than a single fixed interface. Tech-Star supplies this as a secondary-market spare for maintaining or expanding an existing Passport 8672/8600-series ATM switch. Passport 8672-family switches were deployed as compact ATM aggregation nodes at the edge of larger Passport networks, and this baseboard is the mechanical/electrical carrier that lets the chassis accept two of Nortel’s smaller MDA-format interface modules side by side.
