The Nortel NT8D01AD is a Controller 2 (CONT 2) card for the Meridian 1 platform, providing the interface and control link between an IPE (Intelligent Peripheral Equipment) module and its super-loop network card. One Controller 2 card is fitted per IPE module, serving up to 16 IPE cards in that module and carrying out basic call processing and system diagnostics for the shelf. It is compatible with Meridian 1 Option 11C, 51C, 61C and 81C systems. Meridian 1 systems of this generation remain in service in a number of established business telephony installations, and genuine Controller 2 spares are a routine requirement for maintaining full IPE module capacity or restoring redundancy after a card failure.
