The Nortel NTEU13AA is an STM-1E/140Mbit/s tributary card for the Optical Metro 4000 platform, Nortel’s SDH transmission system for multiservice STM-4/16 access, metro edge and regional networks.

As a tributary card, the NTEU13AA plugs into an Optical Metro 4000 shelf and provides electrical STM-1 and 140Mbit/s interfaces, allowing lower-rate customer traffic to be added onto the higher-capacity SDH ring carried by the shelf’s aggregate cards. It is one of a family of tributary interface cards (alongside 2Mbit/s, STM-4 and quad-tributary variants) used to tailor an Optical Metro 4000 shelf to the mix of services being carried.
