The Nortel AL2012X34 is a BayStack 470-48T, a stackable Layer 2/3 Ethernet switch with 48 10/100BASE-TX autosensing ports from Nortel’s BayStack 470 series, the 48-port sibling to the 470-24T with the same faster stacking backplane and fuller Layer 3 routing feature set as the rest of the 470 range. It accepts optional Gigabit uplink and redundant-power modules and supports Nortel’s BayStack stacking architecture for building larger logically-managed switch groups. The 470 series was a common core and aggregation switch in mid-size enterprise networks through the 2000s, and a substantial installed base remains active today. Confirm stacking-cable and module compatibility against the rest of an existing 470-series stack before ordering.
