The Nortel NTN414AB is an OM3500 VTX-48E circuit pack. The Optical Metro 3500 is Nortel’s multi rate next generation SONET and DWDM metro platform, used heavily for optical Ethernet and storage services alongside traditional transport.

Optical Metro and OPTera Metro systems, later carried forward by Ciena, are still transporting traffic in metro and regional fibre networks. Individual circuit packs are the normal unit of maintenance, and matched spares are what restore a protected path or extend a shelf that is already installed.
