The 3120 took interchangeable WAN interface modules, such as multi-port T1/E1 and DS3 cards, so a single chassis could be configured for the exact access-circuit mix a site needed, and its hardware-accelerated IPsec engine was aimed at enterprises needing fast, secure site-to-site connectivity without a separate VPN appliance.
