The Plantronics HW251/A is the monaural version of the SupraPlus corded headset, a single-ear over-the-head design with a noise-reducing voice tube microphone and a quick-disconnect connector. The headset top does not plug into a telephone directly: it connects through a QD lead to an amplifier such as the M12 or M22, to a direct-connect cord, or to a USB adapter, which is what makes the same top usable across analogue, digital and softphone estates. The A suffix identifies the international specification sold outside North America. SupraPlus was the standard contact centre headset for many years and the tops remain in service because they are comfortable through a full shift and the wearing parts, ear cushions and voice tubes, are replaceable.
