Polycom, Plantronics, Poly and HP: one family of hardware

Plantronics built its name in professional headsets, Polycom in conference phones and video endpoints. They are now one business, owned by HP, and the same product lines have carried four badges along the way.

  • July 2018: Plantronics completed its acquisition of Polycom (2.0 billion USD enterprise value).
  • March 2019: the combined company rebranded as Poly. A rename, not a sale; product lines and part numbers continued unchanged.
  • August 2022: HP completed its acquisition of Poly (3.3 billion USD), folding it into the HP hybrid work portfolio.

When you are buying: a SoundStation or VVX phone badged Polycom, a Voyager or EncorePro headset badged Plantronics, and the same ranges badged Poly or HP are the same products from the same lines; the badge simply dates the unit.
