The Sonus CNA03 is a standby T3 adapter for the Sonus GSX9000 media gateway. It is the redundancy half of a protected T3 arrangement, taking over the physical connection if the working adapter fails. Protected configurations are the norm on gateways carrying live interconnect traffic, so the standby part is ordered alongside the working one.

The GSX9000 is a 16-slot media gateway chassis: two slots carry redundant management network servers and the remaining fourteen take circuit or packet network server modules, each paired with a rear-panel adapter that presents the physical interfaces. Sonus merged with GENBAND in 2017 to form Ribbon Communications.
