The Sun Microsystems P595-3780-07, corresponding to Sun’s X467A product code, is an MII to AUI Ethernet media converter, allowing legacy Sun servers and network equipment fitted with a 40-pin MII (Media Independent Interface) port to connect to AUI-based (DA-15) Ethernet transceivers and cabling. It was supplied by Sun for systems such as the Sun Enterprise 220R and other servers of that generation that used MII networking interfaces internally but needed to interface with older AUI-based Ethernet infrastructure, and typically ships with (or requires) an external +12V power supply where the connected AUI transceiver draws more than 0.2A.
