The Timeplex ILC.2 is an Interlink Module for the Timeplex LINK/2+ time-division multiplexer system. It controls distributed communications between LINK/2+ mainframe units over a digital intermachine link, handling the timing and modulation/demodulation needed to keep linked chassis synchronised.

It carries digital intermachine link traffic at rates from 4.8 kbps up to 2.048 Mbps, letting a LINK/2+ deployment span multiple linked multiplexer nodes rather than a single standalone chassis. As a plug-in module it slots into the LINK/2+ card cage alongside the system’s other synchronous, voice and control modules.
