The 3Com 3C17210 is a SuperStack 3 Switch 4400 FX, a 24-port 100BASE-FX fibre switch built for wire-speed 10/100 performance at distances up to 2 km over standard multimode fibre. Fibre connections avoid the eavesdropping risk of copper cabling, making it a fit for links that need to run outside a single wiring closet or between buildings on a campus.

It carries the same feature-rich Layer 2 management as the rest of the 4400 family, including traffic classification and prioritisation, 802.1X network login support, RADIUS server security and application filtering. It stacks with other enhanced Switch 4400 units for up to 192 10/100 or 100BASE-FX ports in a single stack, and shares the family’s rear-slot expansion modules for Gigabit uplinks.
