The IBM 00E2521 is a 6-slot SAS small-form-factor (SFF) DASD media backplane, feature code 5618, CCIN 2BD5, providing the drive-bay wiring for up to six 2.5in hot-swap SAS drives inside its host Power Systems server. The backplane routes power and SAS signal from the drive bays through to the system’s SAS controller or RAID adapter, allowing drives to be added, removed or replaced without shutting the system down.
