The IBM 42R4855 is a PCI-X DDR Dual-Channel Ultra320 SCSI RAID Adapter, IBM machine type 571B, supplied under feature codes 5737 and 5776 with 90MB of write cache. The card provides RAID 0, 5, 6 or 10 across two independent SCSI buses, addressing up to 30 physical disk drives using low-voltage differential (LVD) signalling, with internally attached Ultra320 devices reaching data rates up to 320MB/s on a compatible backplane.

It shares its family with the 42R8739 and 42R4860 adapters, differing in the exact feature code and cache configuration fitted.
