IBM 42R6927: PCI-X Ultra4 RAID Disk Controller with cache battery (FC 2780, CCIN 2780).

The IBM 42R6927 is a PCI-X Ultra4 RAID Disk Controller, IBM feature code 2780 (CCIN 2780), supplied complete with its cache battery for the 9406/9411 iSeries platform family. The controller provides Ultra320 SCSI RAID connectivity for internal or external disk enclosures on IBM i (formerly OS/400) hosts, using a battery-backed write cache to protect in-flight write data against an unexpected power loss, a standard requirement for production RAID configurations on this platform. IBM lists this controller class under feature codes 0627, 0641 and 2780 across several generations of the same design. Cache batteries have a finite service life independent of the controller card itself, so a replacement unit with a good battery is a routine spare for iSeries hosts running production RAID arrays. Specifiers should confirm exact compatibility against their specific 9406/9411 host system before ordering. Tech-Star (UK-based, shipped worldwide) stocks IBM components to support ongoing server maintenance projects.
