The IBM 90H8983 is a 340W, 200-240V AC power supply for the IBM AS/400 9406-170 and 9406-250 systems. It fits directly into the host chassis’s power bay and supplies the regulated DC rails the system board, disk backplane and expansion cards need to run, with the supplier’s own record noting a Japan-built variant of this unit.

AS/400 systems of the 9406-170/250 generation remain in service in a small number of long-running installations where the application, licensing or attached hardware has never been migrated to a newer platform, and a genuine power supply is the standard way to restore power after a failure on one of these older frames.
