The IBM 7309G64 is a RackSwitch G8264R, the modular variant of IBM’s (BNT-built) G8264 10/40 Gigabit Ethernet top-of-rack switch for the data centre: up to 64x 10 GbE ports plus up to four 40 GbE uplinks, 1.28 Tbit/s of switching capacity in a 1U chassis, and 52 expansion slots on this specific model for flexible port configuration.

The G8264 family was built by Blade Network Technologies (BNT), which IBM acquired in 2010, before the System Networking business was itself sold to Lenovo in 2014; genuine G8264R units carrying the IBM 7309 machine type are from that IBM ownership window, and IBM’s own application, installation and BBI quick-reference guides for the G8264 remain published and cover this model.
