The Marconi 1HAT60704AAW is a mux controller card for Marconi’s SMA range of SDH add/drop multiplexers. A mux controller manages the shelf’s cross-connections and housekeeping functions for the surrounding tributary and aggregate cards, working alongside the system controller.

Marconi’s SMA family, inherited from GPT and Plessey, is a subrack of plug-in units: line termination units, mapping cards, optical STM interfaces, controller and alarm cards, and power feeds. Marconi’s 2006 collapse ended factory support, so every SMA site still in service is maintained from secondary-market spares.
