The Marconi 1HAT60592ABJ is an STM-1E electrical interface card, front-access variant, a repaired unit, for Marconi’s SMA range of SDH add/drop multiplexers. It presents an electrical (rather than optical) STM-1 aggregate or tributary circuit into the shelf, with connections brought to the front of the card for shelves where rear access is impractical.

Marconi’s SMA family, inherited from GPT and Plessey, is a subrack of plug-in units: line termination units, mapping cards, electrical and optical STM interfaces such as this one, a system controller, alarm cards and power feeds. Marconi’s 2006 collapse ended factory support, so every SMA site still in service is maintained from secondary-market spares, including factory-repaired units like this one.
