The Dell PC2624, the PowerConnect 2624, is a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with 23 copper ports and one combo port that can be used either as copper or as an SFP fibre slot.

It belongs to the PowerConnect 2600 series, which Dell sold as the web-managed tier: not an unmanaged switch, but not a full enterprise one either. The useful features are there, VLANs, port-based quality of service, link aggregation and a browser interface, and the omission is a command line and the deeper Layer 3 functionality of the higher series. For a small office or a departmental rack that trade is usually the right one.

The combo port is what makes the switch useful beyond a single room, since it allows a fibre uplink where distance or electrical isolation rules out copper, with the reach set by the SFP fitted.
