Dell 0C57VM: FC8PT 16-port 8/4 Gbps Fibre Channel pass-through module for the PowerEdge M1000e enclosure.

The Dell 0C57VM is the FC8PT Fibre Channel pass-through module for the PowerEdge M1000e blade enclosure, providing 16 ports at 8 or 4 Gbps. It fits an I/O module bay at the rear of the chassis.

A pass-through module is deliberately not a switch. Each blade’s Fibre Channel port is presented one-for-one on an external SFP+ port on the module faceplate, with no switching, zoning or fabric services in between. Sites choose that when the storage fabric is already built on external directors and the SAN team wants every host port to appear directly on the existing fabric, so the blade enclosure adds no switch domains to manage and no extra hops to troubleshoot.

The trade is cabling: sixteen ports means sixteen fibres out of the back of the enclosure, where a switch module would have needed a handful of uplinks. SFP+ optics are needed on the external ports and are usually supplied separately. Tech-Star is UK-based and ships worldwide.
