The Dell M710 is a PowerEdge M710 half-height blade server for the M1000e enclosure, configured here with two Xeon E5540 quad-core processors, 16 GB of memory as eight 2 GB dual-rank registered DIMMs, two 146 GB SAS drives, a QLogic QME2572 8 Gb Fibre Channel mezzanine card and a PERC 6/i RAID controller.

That build is a fairly typical virtualisation host of its generation: local SAS disks for the hypervisor, a Fibre Channel mezzanine for shared storage on the SAN, and hardware RAID for the boot pair. The QME2572 is a dual port 8 Gb card, and in a blade it connects through the enclosure midplane to whatever Fibre Channel I/O modules are fitted at the back rather than through cabling on the blade itself.
