The Finisar FTR-8519P-5A is a 1.25Gb/s pluggable optical module for 1000BASE-SX Gigabit Ethernet, transmitting at 850nm through a shortwave VCSEL.

One point is worth correcting against older catalogue entries: 1000BASE-SX at 850nm is a multimode standard, not a single mode one, and descriptions of this part as single mode are wrong. Expect roughly 550 metres over 50 micron multimode fibre and about 275 metres over 62.5 micron. The module belongs to the 8519 shortwave range that supplied Gigabit Ethernet and 1 or 2Gb Fibre Channel ports on switches, adapters and storage controllers through the early 2000s, and it draws from a single 3.3V supply.

As with any pluggable optic of this age, confirm your host does not enforce its own vendor coding on the port. Finisar became part of II-VI in 2019 and that business now trades as Coherent.
