The Finisar FTLX1471D3BCV is a 10 Gigabit SFP+ transceiver with a 1310 nm source, rated for 10 km over single-mode fibre and supporting a dual 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit rate, which lets one module serve a port that has to fall back to gigabit.

The BCV coding marks a vendor-specific build rather than a different optical design, so host equipment that checks the identifier at insertion will accept it where a generic module may be refused. Long reach 10 Gigabit optics of this class link buildings and connect a data centre to its network edge, beyond what an 850 nm multimode part will carry.
