The NetApp X2065A-R6 is a quad-port 6Gb SAS host bus adapter on a PCI Express card. It provides four 6Gb/s SAS ports used to attach disk shelves to a storage controller, each port driving a stack of daisy-chained shelves, and it is the card that expands a controller’s back-end capacity once the onboard SAS ports are fully populated. Four ports allow shelves to be spread across separate stacks, which raises aggregate back-end bandwidth and limits the number of shelves affected by a single path fault. Cabling is multi-lane QSFP SAS rather than single-lane, and shelves are normally connected through both controllers in an HA pair so that disks stay reachable through a takeover.
