The NetApp 332-00279 is a 10Gb short-reach SFP+ optical transceiver for NetApp storage controllers and cluster switches. It is a hot-pluggable module with an LC duplex connector, operating at 850nm over multimode fibre and giving one 10 Gigabit Ethernet port. Short-reach optics of this type are specified for the links inside a rack or between racks in the same data hall, which covers the two commonest uses on a NetApp system: the cluster interconnect between controllers and their cluster switches, and 10GbE data ports serving NFS, CIFS and iSCSI clients. Reach depends on the fibre grade, with OM3 supporting materially longer runs than OM1 or OM2. NetApp qualifies particular optics for particular ports, so the NetApp-coded module is the correct fit rather than a generic SFP+.
