The NetApp 332-00011 is a 4Gb short-wave Fibre Channel SFP transceiver, supplied as the Agilent-designed AFBR-77R6APZ module. It is a hot-pluggable optic with an LC duplex connector, running at 850nm over multimode fibre and auto-negotiating down to 2Gb and 1Gb so it operates in fabrics that have not been fully refreshed. The transceiver seats in the SFP cage of a NetApp controller port, shelf module or Fibre Channel switch and converts between the electrical signal and the optical link. Short-wave optics are specified for in-rack and intra-data-centre distances on multimode cable, where the shorter wavelength keeps the module cost down. NetApp qualifies specific optics against its controllers, so the NetApp-coded part is the one to fit rather than a generic equivalent.
